344 Radar on the island of West Montalivet

Last year we had a speaker, Ian Duggan, who gave a talk on a Chinese/Japanese lugger incursion into the Kimberley’s as well as the establishment of the Loran radio beacon on Champagny Island in the Kimberley.  Ian is the author of two books on the subjects.

This article relates to the establishment of another radar unit, 344 Radar on the island of West Montalivet, further up the Kimberley coast at the same time.
